How to Use Saffron
A) Benefits of Saffron:
- Cancer Support: Saffron contains crocin and carotenoid compounds that inhibit the growth of colon cancer, liver cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer, breast cancer, and leukemia. The crocetinic acid in saffron obstructs cancer stem cells, destroys cancer-causing stem cells, and prevents cancer.
- Brain Health: Saffron enhances brain function, boosts memory, treats brain anemia, supports the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, and has anti-inflammatory effects.
- Digestive Health: Saffron improves digestive health, promotes digestion, and treats digestive disorders such as colitis and ulcerative colitis.
- Hair and Scalp Health: Saffron helps prevent hair loss and promotes healthy hair growth.
- Beauty and Skin Care: Saffron helps to beautify the skin, maintain a youthful glow, naturally improve skin tone, reduce dark spots and freckles, and combat oxidative stress and skin aging.
- Regulates Menstrual Disorders: Saffron helps to improve blood circulation, regulate menstruation, and treat hormonal imbalances.
- Blood Tonic: Saffron is beneficial for individuals with anemia, those recovering from surgery, and helps cleanse blood.
- Vision Health: Saffron is good for eyesight. The compounds in saffron, particularly safranal, prevent vision loss and macular degeneration, making it beneficial for the elderly who are experiencing age-related vision decline.
- Sleep and Mood Support: Saffron helps alleviate insomnia, depression, and hyperactivity. Consuming saffron can promote better sleep and a clearer, more refreshed mind.
- Immune Support and Energy Balance: Saffron boosts the immune system, balances energy, and is supportive in treating colds, coughs, asthma, fever, and cardiovascular issues.
B) How to Use Saffron:
- Soak 10 saffron threads in hot or cold water for 15-20 minutes, then drink the water. You can continue to add more water for second, third, etc. servings.
- For children under 10 years old, use only 3-5 threads.
- Saffron can also be used to add color to dishes when you want a yellow hue (e.g., for making yellow sticky rice, soak 5-7 saffron threads in one tablespoon of water. Once the yellow color is released, pour the colored water into the rice and mix thoroughly).
- For those with dark spots (hyperpigmentation), in addition to drinking saffron water, soak 3 threads in one tablespoon of hot water to extract the color. Crush the threads and apply the saffron water to the affected areas. You can mix it with honey, yogurt, or lemon for added benefits. Saffron can also be used in the same way for people wanting better skin.
- Saffron can be used to offer water for daily prayers or purification rituals.
C) Dosage:
- Adults: 5-10 saffron threads per day.
- Children: 3 threads per day.
Note: Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
D) Contraindications:
- Pregnant women should not use saffron. However, it can be used after childbirth.
E) Storage:
- The best way to store saffron is in a cool place.
F) A Notable Advantage of Saffron:
- Saffron can be used like tea. One gram of saffron contains many threads, so it lasts a long time. Given its price, saffron is not expensive and can be used in families or served as saffron tea to guests.
